PAPER ARCHITECT BIO ... creative explorer
Ever since I was a child, my dream was to wake up each morning and spend the day being creative.
Then to share these creations in a way that would bring joy to others and inspire them to
create something themselves. You might call it a version of "pay it forward."
At a young age I began taking art lessons and won awards for some of my pieces.
But as much as I enjoyed that success, my exposure to different art forms led me down many
paths of exploration. Writing is always a part of my creative process.
For a time, it was designing clothes and selling them in a boutique.
That led to designing sterling silver jewelry, which I did for over 20 years.
As my life changes, I discover new ways to express myself creatively.
I believe being creative as a kind of centering, healing process for me.
When I find something I like, I tend to immerse myself into it finding out all I can
about it which then becomes a part of me.
My first afternoon tea experience, the feeling of calm and order as the courses were leisurely served
was not only unexpected but it become a necessity to be able to experience whenever possible.
when I witnessed Tibetan monks creating mandalas, I was intrigued.
After researching and studying this art form, I began to experiment on creating one for myself.
What makes this art form different from other art forms is that there was no need for any art background,
instead it is created without any thought, just your intuition to guide you.
Saw recipes for afternoon tea in the Food Section of the newspaper
which gave me the idea to host my own tea party. Loved the process of planning these events
and my desire to make each one better than the last,
added designing my own unique invitations to reflect the theme for each party.
This lead to an interest in making my own paper, then bookbinding. I was hooked.
It was hard to stop at making one book so it made sense to sell them
so I could keep making more and develop my skills.
I love to travel and wanted to remember each trip so I used my experience in bookbinding
to design custom books for these trips. That then become more products to sell.
Each interest seems to merge with the next and new ideas come so fast I can't keep up
manifesting them so I pick and choose which to put my attention on.
It isn't enough that I am inspired by the satisfaction that comes from learning and creating,
I can no longer keep it to myself.
So in the spirit of my childhood dream, I have developed workshops to share my passions
and experiences in these areas, while creating handmade products and custom paper art
in hopes of bring inspiration and joy to those who attend my workshops or buy my products.
A win - win for all.
Creativity does not come in one form, it's a life style.
We are all creative beings because we constantly choose our life's design.
Along those same lines, I have developed workshops to share my passions in other areas.
